How Much Does Custom 3D Printing Cost? A Size-by-Size Price Guide

"How much would it cost to print this?" is the first question almost every custom request starts with. The honest answer is that it depends on four things: size, material, detail and quantity. This guide walks through each one, shows our starting prices, and explains how to get an exact quote in 1–2 business days.

Our starting prices by size

Size is the biggest driver of cost, because it sets how much filament a print uses and how many hours it spends on the printer. We price by the longest side of the finished piece:

  • Small, up to 4 in (100 mm): from $25 – keychains, small figures, desk pieces and replacement parts. US shipping $9.99. Usually 3–5 business days.
  • Medium, up to 8 in (200 mm): from $55 – statues, organisers and cosplay pieces. US shipping $14.99. Usually 5–7 business days.
  • Large, up to 12 in (300 mm): from $110 – 12 in statues, helmets printed in parts and display pieces. US shipping $24.99. Usually 7–10 business days.
  • XL and multi-part, over 12 in: quoted, from $200 – life-size props and assemblies. Shipping is quoted. Up to 14 business days.

Photo lithophanes have fixed prices: a single-photo night light is $15.99 and a 4–6 photo hexagon lantern is $59.

What moves the price up or down

Material

PLA and PLA+ are included in our starting prices. They print sharp detail in a wide range of colours and suit most display pieces. PETG (tougher and more heat-resistant), TPU (flexible) and silk filaments cost more to print and are quoted.

Detail and finish

Fine detail means thinner layers, and thinner layers mean more printer hours. Multicolour prints add filament changes. Supports that need careful removal add finishing time. We'll tell you in your quote if a lower-detail setting would save money without hurting the look.

Quantity

Printing the same part more than once is more efficient, so bulk orders get a discount: 10–24 pieces 10% off, 25–49 pieces 15% off and 50+ pieces 20% off.

Design work

If you have an STL or 3MF file, there's no design cost. If you have an idea, a sketch or reference photos, we can model it for you at $40 per hour with a 1-hour minimum, quoted before we start.

How long does a custom order take?

Most orders print in 3–10 business days, depending on size. Large, multi-part and design-from-your-idea orders can take up to two weeks. Your quote always states the production time, and shipping transit time is on top of that.

How to get an exact quote

  1. Go to our Custom 3D Printing page.
  2. Fill in the request form and attach your file, photos or sketch.
  3. We reply within 1–2 business days with the price, shipping and production time.
  4. Approve and pay the invoice (a 50% deposit on orders over $150), and we start printing.

Not sure what size or material you need? Send the request anyway and tell us what the piece is for. We'll recommend the best option.
